It's been a very busy six days here. But I have oh so much to show for it. And the most selfless friend ever! My sewing buddy, Amy, logged 12 hours at my house in the last 2 days and I spent 5 at hers last week. Thank you Amy! You helped me immensely and you know I'll be repaying the favor very soon.
The really fun part was all the brainstorming we did about making TaDa! Creations a team effort come fall. When it comes to sewing, Amy is even more of a perfectionist than I am and we make a great team. I'm really excited about the idea.
Here are the outfits I made for a family in need. These little girls' Mom is so excited to dress them up for Easter. I hope they wont be disappointed! I had my girls model them this morning since laying them flat just doesn't do them justice and most of it is our size or close to it. I couldn't let these leave my home without photos to look back at.

I really love the addition of the lace, velvet ribbon and pink buttons to the bodice. The tiered dress is from the same pattern as the Ruffle Peasant Dress in my tutorial.
And in case you're wondering, Emily got her first "at home" haircut this morning. With sewing scissors no less! I can't for the life of my find my hair cutting shears. Oops! I started out cutting it several inches below her shoulders only to get to the other side and realize it had gotten much shorter than the start. Double oops! Cutting hair isn't as easy as I thought it would be, but I do prefer the price. ;) At least now there isn't such a difference between the girls hair length. And hopefully there will be no more tears over tangles. Emily loved it, exclaiming "I look just like Olivia now!", one of her good friends. Emily's hair is 6" shorter now. So then of course Allison wanted hers cut too. I was able to give hers a little trim, removing some of the layers from her last cut, and that satisfied her.
These skirt sets are one size too big for my girls. They have each requested that I make these again for them to keep. Good thing I bought a lot of this Chocolate Lollipop. Although I'm out of the plaid now which is quite possibly my favorite fabric ever. Boo hoo!
The tees were $5 at Target, I love the magenta color. Perfect with Heather's lime green Freshcut mum print on the yoke.
One more skirt set size 8.
The skirts all have hand stitched size tags. I've never made anything larger than a 5T so I didn't have these on hand.
And a little something for the newborn babe.
I bought the set at Target and just added the yo-yo button.
And here are those gorgeous dolls.
Six altogether, and I coordinated each outfit to match their doll (the dolls came first).
They each have a sweet felt heart, in various places.
And here is everything ready for delivery. I just need to add their names.
I really felt called to do this for them. I just wish I had been able to make something for the boys and the older children too. My hope is that these small gifts will brighten their day and that they would feel loved by God's family.
I'll be back to share my girls' Easter outfits tomorrow
and the dollies I made for them on Friday.
Happy Wednesday!

Gorgeous - as always! Love the tiered dress. The velvet trim & buttons may just be my favorite part :)
And even before I got to your words i was thinking...Miss E!!!!!! She got a haircut!!!! And then thinking "I sure hope it wasn't a 'necessity' haircut thanks to a budding hair stylist, aka "The Shower Bandit" HA, HA
She looks...they look...so grown up :O
This is such a sweet deed you & Amy did for this family. Love deeds of every form are what life is all about.
Sooooooo excited about the TaDa news too!!! So, does that mean we can expect new designs for sale come fall????? Fingers crossed, toes crossed... ;)
So far we've been able to avoid any hair-cutting incidents. Knock on wood. Now if they ever cut their bangs I will surely cry.
Yep, the plan is to open up shop again in the fall. The girls will be in pre-k 9 hours a week and Amy's youngest heads to kindy. We'll start slow and see how it goes. I've got so many ides swirling around in my head. :)
All the outfits are gorgeous! Love all of the fabric! It's hard to pick a favorite, but I really like the 3 tiered peasant dress. (what is the ratio for the layers? the pattern is too big for Reese so I could use the claire and modify it since I have been wanting to make her one). And the list grows a little longer....lol!
Reese got a haircut this morning too. I did something I said I would never do...I cut bangs. She looks like such a little girl now. Oh the joys of having a mom that went to Cosmetology school....hehe!
Excited news about the shop opening back up. I was just telling Lee today that I wish I could sell some homemade things to make some extra money & not have to try to find something else since my family I nannied for doesn't need me anymore.
Just noticed the simplicity pattern does come in a smaller size as well. Guess I will have to go buy it :)
LOVE the dolls and sets You are just too sweet! Tada! Again i am so excited for you I know you guys will do wonderful and I am sure you have many MANY customers waiting for those new designs :) Where did you pick for pre-k Not sure what I will do with myself without K for 3 days a week- I guess I will have to really work LOL :)

Thanks ladies! The girlies loved their outfits and the dolls. They all tried them on while we were there and the fit was great. Mom was super excited to get to dress them all up for Easter and not to have shop to do it. It was a great experience. I'm so glad I got to help them in this way.
