Completely unnecessary. I know.

No one else will ever see it. But I'll know that the inside of Sam's soon-to-be red dresser is a pale shade of aqua. I changed my mind about painting the drawers aqua too, so they will just be a glossy white.

My hope is that the new paint smell, even where it won't be seen, will trump the current grannie's attic smell.

Just a few more drawers to prime and then I'm moving on to the big ole gallon of Candy Apple red paint. I'm a wee bit excited.

Unnecessary perhaps ... but you'll know and it's oh-so-sweet.

A little snack cup of baking soda in each drawer should take care of the smell if the paint doesn't...

The aqua is beautiful! Dryer sheets in the drawers help the smell too.

Totally necessary :)

The aqua is like a little hidden gem. My thrift store desk is Candy Apple (but the Walmart brand! HA) - LOVE it! A little vinegar in a glass cup left in each drawer for a day or two takes the vintage smell out.

Can't wait to see the finished dresser...and his room!!

It's going to be gorgeous! Some great suggestions for getting rid of the smell. I'm anxious to hear if you get by with one coat of paint or not. What a fun project and I love the bit of whimsy with the inside.:O)

Thanks for all the tips ladies! Amy's got a gorgeous antique dresser that an "old" smell to it. Vinegar will be perfect for her since she won't be painting it. Kori, hope it works for you too! I think I need to try it now to get rid of the paint smell. LOL
