It's a happy...floating feeling...kind of...kite flying day

Sandwiched right between several days of April showers,
we had a gorgeous, windy day.

A perfect kite flying day.

The girls were so excited to play in the wind.
They ask to do that most every day.

When I told them we could fly their kites, Allison said
"I love having you (for a) Mommy!" and ran to hug my legs.

They took to it right away.
You'd never know this was their first time flying a kite.

We couldn't have asked for a better day.

Hi Angel,
I attended your class at Eagle Creek Quilt Shop last spring. Since then I have been following your blog. Yesterday I was bumming with two friends (one about to become a first time Grandmother). She shared a poem with us from when her two girls were small She is now making a quilt with kites on it for her first grandchild. Of course, one of our stops was the quilt shop. When I read your blog this morning and saw your girls with their kites, I thought that you might enjoy the poem also. It really hits home when they are all grown and you can smile with a job well done.

Children Are Like Kites
Author: unknown
You spend a lifetime trying to get them off the ground.
You run with them until you're both breathless.
They crash.
They hit the rooftop.
You patch and comfort, adjust and teach them.
Finally they are airborne...
They need more string and you keep letting it out.
But with each twist of the ball of twine,
there is a sadness that goes with joy.
The kite becomes more distant,
and you know it won't be long
before that beautiful creature will snap the lifeline that binds you two together
and will soar as it is meant to soar, free and alone.
Only then do you know that you did your job. "

Take care,
Kerma

Hi Kerma!
Thank you for sharing that beautiful poem. It's a perfect analogy. And I'm tickled that you've been following my blog ever since the class. Seems like it was just yesterday, yet so much has happened since. :)
Have a great week-end, and enjoy this gorgeous weather!
